I think the new PittRace track will put it in the same class as Road Atlanta or Elkhart Lake! Fabulous! Lots of blind apexes that are still exciting even after you know what's going to happen. Love the elevation changes. And the new track made the old track faster at both the point where you leave (turn 1) and where you come back in (turn 5 or now turn 12).

The new track extension (aka South Course) at Pitt-Race is awesome. Great elevation changes. Great rhythm through the esses in the back. The transitions between the old (North) course and the new South Course are really well done. And the pavement on the new South Course is ultra smooth, especially when compared to the older North Course which could really do with a re-pave. As Ian says, can't wait til they get the curbing in place and the ground around the track firms up and grows some grass. There are three good passing zones on the South Course and parts are somewhat technical in that you have to give away some of one turn to get a good line through the following turn. This applies especially to the esses where a late apex is your friend.

I was breaking in a new engine so wasn't really pushing, but I really enjoyed the flow of the track and am already looking forward to next year. The views of both tracks from "Spectator Hill" is pretty good and one can see about 75-80% of both tracks.

Thanks to Jim and Kathy Stout the facilities are FIRST CLASS!
