MGA or MGB factory HD NOS pressure plates ( white paint )

Post by kentprather »

I have been cleaning off shelves in my shop and putting stuff on Ebay. I have so much good vintage racing stuff that needs to be put back to motion. What I really need is a apprentice to continue with all of my secrets, but that's just a dream! What I did find and am sharing are two factory heavy duty race pressure plates. These are the factory competition pressure plates with the white paint that was dotted on the fingers to show competition. For those of you still using a stock style pressure and have not converted to the Tilton Style 7.25 clutches, this is the best there ever was. I have always stocked the 8.5 clutch disc needed to go with the HD pressure plate. Any offer over $175.00 would move these!

Sounds like something I should be interested in.

Can you comment on the fit into an MGA? I have an MGB clutch now - MGB throw out fork & front cover on the MGA transmission. Some MGB clutches are a little bigger than others and won't fit inside the MGA bellhousing. I had to grind off a little bit inside the MGA bellhousing to clear the MGB clutch. The MGB clutch fits perfectly with the modifications you describe. The difference between the standard clutch ( I assume you are running a standard clutch ), is the clutch pressure. This won't over tax the hydraulics, just the factory HD pressure plate has better straps and more finger pressure. The clearance will be the same. Just the amount of time this will last will triple! Also you may be using a 1500 bellhousing which is a bit smaller.
